If you don’t yet follow John Gruber’s writing over at Daring Fireball, you should. Mostly, he has a tendency to put up links to interesting stories or preposterous quotes, but every so often he takes the time to review a product or make a longer argument himself, and the experience is always intriguing. Yesterday, Gruber (as he is generally known) took the time to document the “why” behind the Retina MacBook Pro. He looks at why the Retina Display is important on a notebook, why it’s such a leap ahead, and why the screen looks so good, even when compared to other Retina Displays. I’ll leave you with this quote, and then you should go and read Pixel Perfect for yourself.
But now this. The 15-inch MacBook Pro With Retina Display. This is a boom. A revolution in resolution. The display I’ve been craving ever since I first saw high-resolution laser printer output.
